IT STARTED WITH A SIMPLE QUESTION
SIMPLE QUESTION.
In 2010, we asked the Shelby County Department of Children Services, “What can we do for you?”
Their answer was simple: “We have nearly 30 kids who need Christmas.” So, we gathered Red Tubs, asked our community to pitch in, and Red Tub Day was born.
What started as a small effort to make Christmas special for children in foster care quickly became an annual tradition powered by people who believed that every child deserves to feel remembered, celebrated, and cared for.

Red Tub Day has always been about more than what goes inside a red tub.
It’s about reminding children and families in foster care that they are not forgotten. It’s about creating moments of joy while connecting families with people, resources, and communities that care about what happens after Christmas morning.
Today, Red Tub Day is growing beyond one event and one season into a movement centered on giving Christmas and care.

Red Tub Day started in Memphis in 2010 with nearly 30 children. Today, the movement serves 1.300+ children annually in five communities, with a vision to give Christmas & Care to even more.
